97 Carryall clutch issue - bangs into reverse
When going forward the clutch acts normally, I can slowly increase RPM's and the clutch slowly and smoothly engages. But in reverse I need more RPM's to engage the clutch and when it does engage it does so with a bang and the car lurches backward.
In addition to being uncomfortable and annoying, I see this as a potential safety issue. I need to know what to do to fix this. |

Have you unhooked the shift cable at the trans and moved it manually? See if it's smooth or if it doesn't want to go all the way into reverse. I may be as simple as a FnR cable adjustment.

Re: 97 Carryall clutch issue - bangs into reverse
Thanks for the lead. I'll pull the cable and check it out tomorrow. I have found that sometimes I do have difficulty moving the shifter into reverse.v
