![]() I have a G8 1990 36v lead acid battery stock cart I would like to convert to 48v lithium battery. I want to do this as economical as possible. What is the least amount of products do I need to buy to do this? Battery (s) controller, converter, battery monitor, charger? I’ve read lots of posts and I an unsure what I need to buy without buying things I don’t need. I don’t run lights on the cart but would like to have the option at a later date.
Any advice would help. Thanks |

![]() First thing to do is look and see if the controller are rated for 48 volts. If nothing is rated for 48 volts then you have already figured it out. Batteries, controller, solenoid, volt meter, 48 to12 volt reducer and a charger. All of your old parts except for batteries are sellable on the used market. Sell them to offset some of the cost. Looking for used parts Ebay or Marketplace for the conversion is an option also. It gets a little expensive but well worth it for more torque and speed.

![]() I can’t recommend a single source because I have never dealt with Yamaha but batteries, volt gauge, solenoid and a battery charger are all pretty much universal, they'll work on most any cart. For a controller recommendation I would putting a call in to Alltrax, Navitas or whatever brand is currently in your cart and ask for a recommendation. I’m somebody else will be along that’s more familiar with Yamaha. Lester makes a very good charger that is capable of charging a lot of different brands and models of batteries. There’s a good deal on a Lester in the “Golf Carts and Parts” section of this forum. DPI is another good name in chargers. Albright is a reputable name in solenoids. The legit Chinese version of the MZJ400 is good as well if you buy it from a reputable seller but beware there’s a lot of clones out there that are junk. It’s a crap shoot on Amazon. Check with Revolution cars or cartsunlimited.net maybe they can help with some parts.
