Default Anybody go from Club Car to EZGO

I've had a few issues with my Club Car DS and am thinking of upgrading. Leaning toward a newer Precedent, but am curious about EZGO.

Anybody switch from a Club Car to a TXT? Any regrets? Anything you recall the Club Car being better at?

When I was a teenager (mid-late 90s), I worked at 2 Golf Courses. Both of them had EZGOs -TXTs from what I recall. We beat the crap out of them day in, day out. I don't ever recall having issues with them. To this day that thought sticks out in my head.

With all that said, if I bought one I would go with a basic 48V TXT, preferably a 2014+ model.

Any thoughts?

The steel frame is a deal breaker for me.In coastal Georgia they don’t last long.

I worked for security company as the only person allow to work on the carts putting distilled water and cleaning cable, replace head light bulb fixing flats from 2005 to 2009, there were 25 Club Cars and only a hand full never had issues. I dont work no more but I did buy a ez-go over a year ago and the only issue I have had is with the charger which is one of those that inter parts can not be replace. I have been charging the batteries with a regular car charger so its time now to by a charger, I'll stay with Ez GO products.

I like the Ezgos. The ITS throttle system is better than the MCOR. Controller access is way better, just lift the seat and there it is. Room on one side for onboard charger or DC reducer. The ride is better too. BUT this question is much like the old FORD CHEVY debate. Like fat girls and skinny girls. I've loved them all

Seriously the TXT48 is Ezgo's high water mark, any year.

IMO its a Ford/Chevy thing.

EZGO steel frame can rust. CC aluminum can corrode and crack.

People will say that one or the other will ride better but I think it's all about the tires with golf carts. Not the chassis.

EZGO doesn't use an OBC or MCOR. Late model CC (late '14 and up) ditched the OBC for the ERIC charger. ERIC is the better charger.

Newer models of each are all sepex, 48v and use similar Curtis controllers so a wash there I think.

I think the EZGO has a better battery layout. Easy access to the controller and room for an additional battery or voltage reducer for 12v power. CC has a plastic battery tub so no rust there.

In both cases the seats. steering wheel and pedal group are not adjustable. They have a distinct driving position. You should sit in each as you may favor one or the other.

EZGO has the RXV model with an three phase AC motor (brushless). Very powerful. Doesn't slow much climbing hills like all DC carts. No CC equivalent yet.

EZGO TXT and RXV will both accept 20" tall tires without a lift. Precedent or DS need to be lifted for this I think.

Aluminum has its problems too (breakage and battery acid) but I still prefer it.

I appreciate the honesty in that post. I don't live in a "high rust" area, so rusted back into the earth isn't a problem here. I have rebuilt so many aluminum battery trays I can't count (batteries literally falling out the bottom). I have heard the "but they don't rust" thing so many times, but the club car fans usually don't ever speak a peep about battery corrosion issues. The Ezgo txt setup is a older, more "crude" suspension design that works well, and is really tough. The club car front suspension is more finicky and maintenance prone. The "but the precident have a plastic battery tray" argument is BS to me, the acid ends up on the front mounts for the rear leaf spring boxes (I don't see any way that could be a problem in the future, insert sarcasm). I'm a Yamaha guy for carts, but given the choice, I would take a txt over any club car. If you are considering a club car, I would look for a clean DS model over a precident, then plan on replacing all the suspension bushings (it's a relatively easy job, and these are used carts). If you look at all the tough jobs for carts, like apartment complexes, storage places, schools, swap meets, you will see tons of TXTs, and plenty of club car DS carts. It's too bad the old Ezgo Marathon has just about run it's course, because that thing was a all metal tank that could hold it's own in a car accident, with a car (I know this first hand, I accidentally tried it once).

EZGO for me too, I have maintained fleets of all three major brands and all in all i found the EZGO to be more robust and simpler to fix. I know a i have not been around for a while now and see many more available lift kits and other mods, but back then the EZGo was by far the easiest to modify and home brew lift kits and big block swaps were a doddle to DIY.
When i opened my own cart shop, i specialised in the EZGO models for that very reason. I suppose it is different these days though.

And parts are generally cheapest for EzGo... I personally have been working on dozens of Yamaha's lately, and it really makes the TXT's frame look good (At least it doesn't go under the batteries!) Yamaha frames go to waste so fast.
