Default RXV 48V to 12V Reducer install instructions

So I've spent several hours on here and YouTube searching for good instructions on installing a reducer on a 2008 RXV cart. The install instructions are all over the place and mostly for other carts. Some say connect to the key switch, so some never do that. Some say install a toggle switch to shutoff reducer, others give different instructions. Anyone have good instructions on installing a reducer? A step by step is what I'm after.

I've looked at one of the sites vendors reducer with fuse block and it comes with a negative Bus Bar. So you ground the Bus Bar to the battery and then ground all your accessories to the Bus Bar? Just making sure I understand the purpose of the Bus Bar in this application.

Thanks in advance.

I can’t help you with step by step instructions, but I can point you in the right direction. First, make sure any install instructions you’re using are for the rxv. Guys smoke their controllers probing the wrong spot on those things. $1k mistake. Second, get a reducer that has a trigger wire.

Everything I ever got from Scotty at carts unlimited had great instructions. I’d get it from him.

Yes, the busbar is a grounding block so that you only have to one run wire to your pack -. All accessories can get their negative at the busbar.

Thanks for the info orangeman6. Definitely scared of letting the magic smoke out of the controller.

Scotty was who I was looking at. So the Reducer came with step by step instructions? I saw the wiring diagram on his site, but didn't seem to be RXV specific and would really prefer RXV step by step instructions.

There's a note at the lower left that discusses RXV.

The diagram on the Carts Unlimited site has part of the note cut off. Maybe you get the full diagram with the reducer?

There is also a note about connecting the green/orange to switched positive. I thought I read that was a no-no

I found the full diagram on another post. Now I can read the note and realize it's saying NOT to connect the reducer to the switch.

So if you connect the yellow to the 2 pole switch where does the wire coming out of the switch connect?

Try using the advanced search. If you can figure out how to find RXV and reducer, you'll have what you need. It seems I remember reading about hooking up the trigger wire to the solenoid. You need to confirm that, though.

That's great. Thanks a ton for finding that. That will help a bunch when I install my reducer.
