Would these 150 pound caps work?

I'm getting the joke now.... In the capacitor world it's acceptable to use the capital M (mega) for m (micro), which is not the ISO standard.

As I don't swim in golf carts or electronics all day long, I'll have to plead ignorance to the (NON-STANDARD) convention. And despite the chuckles the idea may provide :-) - a supercapacitor of that size might supply about 100F - though it might not be available for such a great price?

HOWEVER, I am still not convinced a relatively large capacitor would not work - between just having to maintain the activation circuit and being recharged, and not overcharged, by the regen over-voltage cut-out.

I suppose I'll just have to wait until my SUPER MONDO 20MF - or 20 MILLIFarad capacitor - arrives.

Thanks for you indulgence!

I wasn't joking. I just happen to have three in my garage. Mine are 100 microfarad, 10 kV. Prolly too much voltage and not enough capacitance. They are great for keeping my neighbors in line. At .5CV^2, that's 15 kJ

The MFD is a confusing terminology used in the trade industry only, electronic capacitors use the Greek letter mu to represent micro-farad.

I don't know how a very expensive capacitor would help, if it keeps the controller running, it will continue to run Regen brake against an ineffective load and likely go over-voltage very quickly regardless if the batteries are present.

If those batteries really just go open circuit that easy, the only possible work around would be to get a new Controller that You can program to work around the issue:
Disable Regen brake for over-charging current.
Disable HPD for over-driving current.
That way the Controller will recover if power is temporarily removed.

Ignore my comments. Just bored.

But look at that series inductance. Definitely Star Wars leftovers.

I use the same type of capacitor for doing EMP simulation testing on military EQ for the DOD. This one test measured at 118 mfd @ 10 KV. It came out of an MRI power supply.

'cept I don't get paid for this. I just like to put the fear of God into my neighbors with sonic booms of Mach 7 shrapnel in my containment box in the wee hours of the night.

Geetar strings in open air are the bestest.
