Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
Just upgraded via ScottyB to an Alltrax SR48400 with 400 solenoid and a SW182-36v. My wires are all either 2g or 1g cable. I'm thinking of adding the 7th 6v battery (like in the install thread). How many folks run 42v, is there a downside, and is there any additional parts other than two more cables that I need to purchase?

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
You will also need a 42v charger. I personally would go to 48v in a series cart.

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
Six new batteries is much more expensive than one 6v. I can probably push one by the wifey
... Otherwise I'll have to wait until natural replacement time and my batteries look like they'll be fine for a while. I'll look at 42v chargers now... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yep you are a candidate for 42v then, The DPI charger comes in 42v with the D plug to fit your cart... and you only need one 14" cable to add that 7th battery.

And yes, I know that's a red cable in the middle... But when the short cable grows legs and walks off, probably due to my 13year old... You adapt ;)

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
Thanks ScottyB. Is there any other downsides to 42v? I'm assuming I'll also need to update the programming on the Alltrax.

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
That is a good point. I wonder if I need to do anything to the SW182 or is that another purchase? Seems like my options I'm looking at now are:
1. Go with Admiral Mot-A1 motor $435 2. Go with 1 6v battery and 42v charger $408 3. Go with 2 6v battery and 48v charger $521 (and possibly another reversing contactor purchase) All pretty close in price. Probably my final golf cart purchase until 2019. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
From the looks of your batteries, you DON'T want to add one or two new batteries. Used is what you want, for now.

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
Thanks Yurtle. They seem to hold charge well. After charging 100% and letting sit a day without use they still stay above 38.20. But I'm definitely a fan of used prices!
