Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
So I would stay away from "speed" motors like the ones I mentioned.
A motor more optimized for torque would be better. Again, keep aiming for 48v especially in that environment. |

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
That's a darn nice cart for $500.00! I still think 48v with the stock motor will give you the best bang for the buck.

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
An Admiral MOT-A1 is a nice series motor, but it won't fit an EZGO cart, the B1 fits EZGO.
In general terms, if a series motor is wound for more speed, it has less torque and if wound for more torque, it has less speed. However, series motors with longer cases can have more torque AND more speed than a stock sized series motor. The MOT-B1 falls into that category. ON the other hand, going to 42V will up the present 13MPH on level ground t 15MPH and 48V will up it to 17MPH. The higher voltage battery packs will also up the speed going uphill by about the same proportions. ----------- You can also up the speed by installing taller tires, but doing so also reduces torque were rubber meets road and the cart will slow more going uphill. |

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
I have the BT-1 which is a speed motor. I am on flat ground It will haul myself and four collage girls about 15mph. With the hills you have I would suggest the BT-2, it has more torque.
I plan to go 48V. |

Re: Upgrade 98 Series to 42v
I'm in a $$ holding pattern. I purchased a new rear heavy duty leafspring and bushings and my wife told me not to spend any more $$ on the cart till after Christmas settles down... so it might be a while before I have another update. But I'm guessing February is when my next update will occur!
