2006 txt ARC damage
While me and my son were out in the garage the other day I turned my back for one second and he was able to grab a nutdriver and placed it in the charging port. Needless to say he touched both contacts and it arc'd very thankful he is ok afterwards the cart wouldn't move or show any power on the voltage meter. I just disconnected the wires from the positive and negative from the battery pack and left it alone. Figured I would check in to see what would some places be to start diagnosing the damage that could have been caused. Thanks.

I'd check the charge port wires. It could be as simple as one or both of 'em got hot enough to come off.

Likely the young mechanic blew the reed switch. Easy fix - just bypass it.
See below and keep him busy where he's safe. |

There should also be plastic protectors over the terminals in the receptacle to prevent them from being shorted in the future.

I'm with Scotty on this one. Reed switch. And maybe some micro switches

Re: 2006 txt ARC damage
Many carts have a 60A fuse in the white wire from the charger port to the B+ terminal on the battery pack, so check it if your cart has one.
As for the insulator sleeves on the exposed terminal in the charger port, one should be used on the positive terminal (Driver side) terminal only. Some, but not all, battery chargers use the outside of the negative terminal to sense the battery pack voltage. |
