Battery post lugs
My batteries are a year and half old and 3 of the post have cracked and the lug has broke away from the lead . Is there a way to fix this? Really don’t know where to start. Thanks

Re: Battery post lugs
Guys have done this with success, but I think it can be a bit dangerous. I tried using the search bar to find threads on it, but I don’t know how to tell it I want two words to be there. Any search of battery, post, repair, etc brings up too much to dig through.
Hopefully one of the guys that know is along soon. In the meantime, maybe you tube? |

Can you post a detailed picture of the problem?

Re: Battery post lugs
Sounds like you have over-tightened the nuts. The proper torque is in inch-pounds.

Re: Battery post lugs
I'll bet you can go to a battery shop and they can repair them or point you in the right direction. When I bought my Trojans I remember a sign stating terminal repair $25.

Re: Battery post lugs
First you need to save the pic you want in a folder on your computer. Go to post reply. Once that screen opens up, scroll down to where it says attach files and click manage attachments. It will open another screen that gives you an option to choose 4 different files click on one and it will bring you to your computer and you choose the pic you saved. When your done, choose upload. It seems more complicated than it is.

Re: Battery post lugs
My uncle melted the posts off of something like 7 batteries using crappy six Gage wires that were all corroded and rotten. They would get hot everytime he rode it. If it's caused from heat be sure to get some better wires. I put two Gage on mine, torqued them to factory specs, and coated them in petroleum jelly. If you put corrosion inhibitor on them, torque them about 10 lbs less since there will be less friction between the nut and bolt. You'll pull the stud out of the terminal if you over tighten them.
