Default 2014 EZGO RXV 48VDC eating batteries.

Northern California, Bay Area 2014 EZGO RXV cart is going through batteries every 2 years. Batteries are properly maintained, charging, water levels monitored, distilled water, etc.

Put a "clamp on" amp meter on wiring and it is pulling .234 mA with the manual switch off. When the switch is turned on the reading goes to about .457 mA. Unit has an auto water system.

Cart used for golf play only. Normally 18holes 3 to 4 time a week. Plugged into charger every round. Stock 2014 EZGO charger. Tried my buddies charger. Same year model and charger. Same results.

Tried disconnecting the wiring harness that leaves the voltage regulator and the measured voltage use drops to about . 25 mA.

First batch of batteries were Trojan and switched to USA to try them.

Have a BLS desulfator on cart. Chatted with them in Florida. They say they get one or two calls a week about EZGO premature battery failures.

Has anyone else had premature battery failure with 48vdc RXV's?

Suspect you have a 4x12V battery pack. If so, convert to a 6x8V battery pack for longer battery lifespan. See attached chart.

If you have US Battery brand batteries, get a charger that has a US Battery charging profile.

Also, battery life expectancy is less in warmer climates. See attached map.

Just a tidbit of information. A friend bought one of those BLS desulphators and put it on his huge 48V Lead/Acid battery bank for his solar power system. Within 2 years, that very expensive battery bank was toast. He replaced his battery bank with an identical unit (Forklift batteries in a big steel box) and disconnected the BLS desulphator. He is on year 4 now with no problems, and no desulphator connected.

Describe "auto water system". Do you mean a single point battery fill system? These are notorious for failures. One valve fails, operator never knows it. One battery fails affecting entire pack.
