TXT Stalling uphill
I took my cart out for a spin today, and noticed that it was having some trouble making it uphill on a couple of hills, and then on my last hill before getting home, the cart began cutting out on me. It would stall for a second, maybe two, then kick back in and pull a few yards, then stall again. It did that about 3 or 4 times, until I got back on level ground. Once on level ground it acted normal. Any ideas what might be going on?
I have a 48v, 500 amp Alltrax, 22" tires and a 15:1 gear ratio. |

Re: TXT Stalling uphill
Were you able to check your pack voltage while this was going on?
That 15:1 gear set isn’t standard, right? |

Re: TXT Stalling uphill
How long have you had this cart? Is this the first time you have experienced this problem? What year is it? Is it the stock motor?
As Orange is asking about the voltage, your batteries could have been low on charge or getting weak. Could be that you need to inspect the motor brushes. |

Re: TXT Stalling uphill
Install an inexpensive in dash digital battery meter to monitor the pack voltage under load. I suspect with a full charge on healthy batteries this problem would go away.

Re: TXT Stalling uphill
Dont remember exactly what the voltage was but it was between 48 and 47 under load according to my dash meter. Batteries are new as of August and were showing 51.? volts before I started. Showing 50.7 now.

Re: TXT Stalling uphill
Is this a Series drive or DCS?
FWIW: The torque loss from the 22" tires and torque gain from the 15:1 gears more or less cancel. Net loss of about 1.3% Same with speed gains and loses. Net speed gain is about 1.4% In a nutshell, the cart has stock performance, +/- about 1.5%, not counting the speed and torque gain of upping the pack to 48V. |
