Default 2007 TXT problems

I purchased an Alltrax 400amp controller with fan and their 200amp solenoid. I've been trouble free since installing it 6 months ago. Showed up to the ranch last weekend and cart wouldn't move. Had an error code on the controller of low pack voltage. Checked voltage and had 38.7V. After looking closer I found that the wire with a diode on it that goes across both large post of the solenoid was melted in two. Tried installing the old solenoid to see if that was the problem but when I would touch the throttle it would go 100% instantly. So I put the newer solenoid back on without the melted wire and the cart worked like normal. What does the melted wire do and can I get a replacement where I bought the controller (carts unlimited)? Thanks for any help.

First off, you can get what you need from Scottyb at CartsUnlimited.net

Secondly, what drive system do you have? SERIES or PDS?

Thirdly....you need to ensure your terminology you are using is correct, as the DIODE goes on the SMALL terminals, the RESISTOR is what goes on the LARGE terminals. which are you actually talking about......the diode is a small cylinder that is black with a single silver stripe near one end.

it certainly would help of you could post a pic of your solenoid.

Are you sure it went across the large posts? The diode should be on the small posts and a resistor on the large posts. (resistor only for SR controllers)

That sounds like the pre-charge resistor. I'm not sure why yours melted, if you're still running on a 36v system you should have a 250ohm resistor. I was getting low pack voltage on mine when I was trying to run it without one because I had upgraded to 48v and was impatient and waiting on the 470ohm resistor.

What I gathered is they extend the life of your solenoid, page 7 of 9 explains what they do.

ScottyB has them on his page here.

EDIT: Or what Sir Nuke and Lukel said above lol

Many XCT applications do not need the resistor, only the diode. That’s why we need to know his drive system.

Looking at his other thread, it’s a 2007 PDS.

It's a pds. Not sure how to post pictures on here. I'll research it and try.

That is the regen diode shown. It does go on the big posts of a PDS cart.
That SW180 solenoid does have a + mark by one large post. Be sure the battery main + cable and the banded end of that diode are on the + post.
To find a replacement Regen Diode see item 7 here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/solenoids.html

Meanwhile you can operate without it - if you do not loose power or shut the cart off while moving.

Ok, looks like I had it wired correctly. What would cause that wire to melt? And would this have anything to do with the error code and the cart not going? Thanks again for all of yalls help.

I ordered another Regen Diode. Hopefully someone will know why this one melted?
