Christmas LED lights on a cart?

I want to run about 6 LED lights on my cart for a Parade next month. My cart is upgraded to 48 volts. And I have the voltage reducer from Scotty. I was hoping they could run off the headlight wiring but I’m not sure.

Any input?

You could tie them into the headlight wiring, but if they’re just for the holidays you’re going to create more work than necessary. If you have scotty’s reducer, I’m assuming you have a fuse block and most likely have an unused tap. Run the lights straight to the fuse block and through a simple, cheap 12v toggle. You could even set it up with some sort of connector where you just plug the Christmas lights back into the circuit every year.

Make sure the LED lights you're using are rated for 12v if you're using the reducer. We've used a power inverter for 120v lights, and also have had good luck with the battery powered ones

+1 vote for fuse block or 12v distribution block of some sort. The previous owner of my cart ran all light leads direct to the battery posts and I need to do this very thing to clean it all up.

Makes it nice and neat and easy to troubleshoot, even easier to add/remove accessories when you feel like it.

If they end in a standard two-prong household plug, then 120V AC. There could be a transformer feeding them, but it'd be a small box between them and the plug (or part of the plug).

I would say they are likely AC, which means you have two solid options:

1) Get an inverter, or
2) Buy 12VDC Christmas lights

Option 2 was harder to find than I thought it was, and then BAM - multicolor LED strips! Found 'em on ebay in 12v, 5m long strip with wireless remote for $12.95. That remote lets you create custom light patterns, etc.

Personally, I think that'd be pretty cool.

Just looked at the package. They are 120 volts. 7.2 Watts (0.06 Amps.) I think I’m just going to get a 12 volt outlet inverter and wire it up to the fuse block off the voltage reducer.

I ended up buying a 12 volt socket/USB combo. I ran a 200 Watt inverter. And all the lights off of that.
