Basically the key switch powers goes to the pot switch which triggers the solenoid closing. Solenoid should click when you press the gas - not when you turn on the key.
The pot switch may have 2 or 3 terminals. If 2 terminals it is a simple off/on switch and you can put power in /out on either side. If 3 terminals it is a dual function switch. Simply use the 2 outer terminals leaving the center terminal empty to use the off/on function needed. Test the switch function with the ohm meter ( or continuity beep function) Your cart wiring may have been changed because the switch went bad? if that's the case you need a new switch and correct wiring. |

The solenoid should not close when the key is turned on - this is true for all make or model golf cart. If it is wired as I described and the solenoid is latching with the key switch then the pot switch has failed closed or ? Time to start testing the solenoid activation circuit.

throttle linkage was out of adjustment so the micro
switch would not open |
