Default Looking at 1994 EZGO Medalist as a first project - things to watch out for?

Noob to the forum (and the whole cart world actually).

I'm looking for a cart as a project and came across a 1994 EZGO Medalist
on craigslist (since I'm new I can't post the link).

'94 seems a little old. Are there specific things to look out for when I go look at it? I read the article on how to check the batteries to verify their age.

Looking at the Jake's site, they offer a long travel lift kit for 1994.5 and up EZGO Medalist carts. Anyone know how to determine the manufacture date?
The person in the add has taken a picture of the serial number - can I simply call Jake's with that info and see if their kit will work? Are there other lift kit manufacturers I should look at?

Thank you for any and all info as I start this journey...

It is 1994.5 is because the Medalist wasn't introduced until the second half of 94

94 was a transition year for EZGO. The Marathon was being phased out and the Medalist was being introduced. The Medalists are somewhat rare as they were only made for a year before the TXT was introduced. Oh and BTW, most TXT parts - including the body - are interchangeable with the Medalist, so the cart may have the plastic TXT body, but may still be a Medalist
