Volt meter
My cart came with one of those round needle analog state of charge meters.
Not real sure how to read it... I am thinking of replacing it with a digital led Volt meter. I think Scottyb had a couple of different meters...is one better than the other? How are these hooked up, red wire to your battery 1 plus and the black wire to your battery 6 negative? I guess there is some sort of wire that goes to your key to turn it off? If this is the wiring...I was hoping to take off the analog one that I have and use the 2 existing wires to the batteries. Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: Volt meter
That will work. It is a 2 wire hook up with reverse polarity protection. Hook up is so easy a caveman could do it
Any battery pack source will work. Wire it direct or through the keyswitch. I just updated the website with install diagrams and SOC chart. Thank you |

Sorry if this is a dumb question...
If I hook up just the 2 wires to the battery back and not through the key switch... Does this mean the led meter will always be on? If so, does that draw on the battery alot? Thx Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

One other newbie question...
Why would the round analog state of charge meter i have only show a reading when the charger is plug in? Shouldn't it show the state of charge all the time? It has 2 wires hooked up from the battery pack... No other wires. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: Volt meter
Yes it means the meter will be on all the time but, no, the meter is an LED light and it draws very little power (mila amps) so your battery pack will not show the draw from the meter. My newest test meter has been on outside for more than 2 years.

Re: Volt meter
I replaced my analog for a digital meter last spring and I'm never going back. It gives "real" pack status and on-demand load testing. My cart sits for long periods at a time, but a quick glance tells me when I need to fire up the charger.
"Always on" is really a non-issue. Some of the hunters don't like the glow in the dark in the pre-dawn hours at the stand so they run the meter through the key switch. The only issue I had with mine was getting a square peg to fit an oversized round hole. I ended up getting an after-market 2" auto gauge at a second-hand store, taking the guts out, cut the face plate to fit the digital gauge, paint the face flat black and put back together. The end result fit the dash hole perfectly. . |

Re: Volt meter
this is a must! so easy, I did it in like 20 min, my first read mod to my cart. Now when I change out the dash down the line I will know what issues I ran into. Bought this thing off ebay for $13. i prefer it off so pulled the cup holders out, unscrewed the key switch and then wired the red to the hot so when the key turns on it comes on.
