https://www.amazon.com/DROK-Digital-...re+Meter+Gauge
The thing I like about this one is that it has a 3 meter cable. Enough to reach your motor. |

The IR gun is effective, but it has its drawbacks. First, you cannot sample your temperature on the fly. You have to stop and go under your cart to get a reading. Also, you have to know the limitations of the IR gun. Reflectivity will throw your readings off. For example, the bare metal cap will show a lower temp than the darker housing. I'm no expert so read up on it yourself. |

Re: How hot should the motor get?
I mounted my temperature sensor right between the A1 and A2 terminals on my motor. I used a tie wrap to hold it in place with a rubber pad over it.

Re: How hot should the motor get?
When selecting a temp reading device make sure it is matched (capable) of reading in the range of the motor temperature. (not the one above)
Also stay away from any vegetable sheath wiring available on some units as the rabbits love it, which is not good. I had 2 meters on the meter test cart, side by side.... one sensor lead got eaten |

Re: How hot should the motor get?
Soy-based - it's a well documented problem in the auto industry. People in rural locations where rabbits and rats have access to the under side of the cars have dealt with this problem for yrs. https://www.google.com/search?q=wire...hrome&ie=UTF-8

Re: How hot should the motor get?
Sorry for bringing back an old thread...finally found the infared temp gun and ran the cart with myself and just my kid ~250 worth of weight for about 5 miles through some pretty steep hills.
When I got home the center of the motor (the black part - it's a black ADC) measured 125 - 130. I'll probably run it until it gives up the ghost and then put something capable of the hills and an alltrax in. Right now it's running stock controller and cables. |
