Ky. Might be worth the trip. That's about half of the cheapest around here.

Default Batteries?! Trojan Vs. Crown Vs. US Batteries.

That is half of the cheapest here unless Sams has a sale.

Cgtech, you want to settle the debate about whether using actual acid from a hardware store over distilled water actually works? We have heard all sorts of fantasies about how water is better or acid is better or worse/unnecessary that I just want to settle it once and for all.
Well, if your batteries are losing acid/juice out the tops, maybe "a little acid" could be beneficial. But the problem is if you use acid only to replenish fluid levels, you are "acid burning" the plates.these batteries don't work with "straight acid", it's a balance. When working properly, they never lose much of their acid, just a little of the water components. That is a argument no one will ever win. Acid levels higher than normal might boost performance in the short term, but will shorten battery life. Higher than normal acid in the batteries is a little like nitrous in a otherwise stock car engine. Boosts performance, but shortens overall life, and too much will destroy it. Adding acid instead of distilled water is a tricky game, just how much is right, a slight burn on one cell might actually help, but not good for it's neighbor. All these guys who are "saving their batteries" are being battery chemists without treating each cell individually as would be required to use that strategy properly. Back to the basics, don't overfill, and use distilled water. There are "magic tricks" to make batteries last, and the magic is treat them properly. Although I do believe in some desulphating methods that I have tested, none of them come in liquid form.

I gotta chime in on this one guys, seeing how my daughter just came back and said the golf cart is dead “again” dad!! So with that being said, I purchased a complete set of 6-8volts from battery source here in town. They are the house Brand at 99.00 each. Sounded like a good idea at the time. It’s been back 3 times with dead cell batteries. They will replace them however. There customer service has been great! BUT! the batteries suck. My Trojans lasted 6 years before I replaced them in my old cart. Tired of dragging my cart up there once every 3-4 months. Guess I will be having them order me some Trojan’s tomorrow. Definitely get what you pay far! Just my 2 cents.

I learned the same with car brake pads a long time ago. Was offered top of the line, medium, and cheapos. All had lifetime warranty, so what could go wrong? Replacing the @%#%^* things every 18 months.

I would like to add and maybe it has already been mentioned. Never buy the plain black batteries. The big manufacturers of batteries always have a distinctive case so they can't easily be counterfeited. ie Trojans,US Battery and Interstate all have their unique look. I once bought a set of Crown plain black batteries. They lasted about a year. The only thing Crown about them was the Label.
