Yes the OEM meter has 2 (+) one is constant and one is switched. Simply use one and tape one up.

Hey guys - FYI I hooked everything back up and you were both right. +36V was indeed arriving at the switch (white wire) and it continues on to the meter with the other 2 ports on the meter receiving a constant (unswitched) +36V and -36V.

What still perplexes me is that second white wire arriving at the switch but not connected to anything. It almost seems like the second white wire was (should be) carrying a voltage back to the controller to indicate that the buggy has been turned on.

I think the previous owner must have gotten creative somewhere.

I don’t need to know, but it is perplexing nonetheless! I traced those 2 white wires back to the controller. One is carrying +36V to the switch (then passing to the meter). The other, unused.

I’ve studied the schematics and they don’t address these questions.

Sir, is your cart not running or are you concerned with the voltage meter?

I don't know what else to tell you.

No it is not. I’m just trying to understand how the system works. Call it curiosity. It’s ok if you don’t know. Maybe somebody else does. Thanks for your help thus far.

There should be 2 wires coming from the controller Going to the key switch. Power to the switch and the return wire that tells the controller the key is on. Does the cart run with the key off?

Hey kgsc - that’s how I thought it should work with a wire coming back to controller to indicate that it’s on, but I’m 99.99999% sure it was disconnected and taped up when I first opened the panel to replace the sticky key switch.

I also questioned (like you) if the cart would run without the key on in that case (and former owner jumpered it somehow that is not visible to me) BUT now after reconnecting everything, I have a cart that won’t respond to the pedal (otherwise all electrical seeming good) and frankly, I never tried running the cart without the key on prior to key switch replacement!!!!

Hey scottyb - it’s a 2002 electric 36V EZGO TXT.

Not sure if that answers your question?
