2007 precedent 48V clicks but wont charge
My 2007 precedent stopped charging when we plugged it in . The charger clicks but no voltage on the charge meter . I got a new charger but still the same problem . the low battery light is on
any ideas of what my problem is? are my batteries too low ? I thought if the charger clicked when it gets plugged in my OBC and battery voltage is OK ? |

Re: 2007 precedent 48V clicks but wont charge
If it is a DS check the fuse behind the receptacle. If it is good or it is a Precedent, you need to bypass the OBC to test it.
You can bypass the OBC by running a jumper from the back side of the charge receptacle (where the black 10g wire is that goes into the harness) and run it directly to the Main Pack Negative. Also take the grey sense wire coming off the same receptacle and land it to the same place. This will allow the charger to turn on "if" the OBC has failed. Note- This is only to test and not to make normal operation. You would not be "charging" the batteries at all, just quickly "surface charging" the battery plates. |

If it turns out to be the OBC, you can temporarily leave it this way why you either replace the OBC or get you a smart charger.

if the charger clicks, that means the obc is working. start by looking at your wiring from the charger outlet to the battery, chances are you have a wire off

Re: 2007 precedent 48V clicks but wont charge
When the charger clicks the OBC is only Partially working.
Charger On, and current control are two separate functions of the OBC. Two separate ways to fail, among several others which also have different symptoms. The relay in the charger uses battery voltage from the cart to Click on. So if the charger clicks, the batteries have enough remaining voltage for the charger to turn on. This also narrows down the possible failures. Have you made sure the AC outlet you plug the charger to is live? If there is AC power getting to the charger you should still hear it hum when the relay clicks on. It will be quiet, but it will hum with the AC frequency, even though the ammeter doesn’t move. Next would be the Negative charge wire on the cart. You could have a poor connection in the charge receptacle or the wire is damaged between the receptacle and OBC, or could have a poor connection where the OBC negative connects to the pack negative at the controller B- terminal. If those check out, bypassing the OBC should force the charger On. It’s not ideal to leave it bypassed, but as a temporary measure it will bring up the charge level of the pack. |
