A trickle charge or Float mode is only supported on certain battery profiles.
How often do you use the cart?

Since I just put the new batteries in a couple weeks ago, probably 3-4 times a week. That's on the high side right now though. I've got the kids driving it more than usual in order to break in the batteries. Tyipicaly sits during the week, with an occasional trip to the buss stop, but gets used pretty heavy on the weekends during the summer.

How do you know which profiles have float? I just recently bought the 650W and charged my batteries to 100%. The paperwork that came with it said it was setup already and to select a specific profile.

A couple days later I disconnected the charger and pulled it in to the garage for awhile to do some things. When I took it back and plugged it in the charger sit aid the batteries were at 62% charge. Batteries are less than a year.

It appears the profile they had me load doesn't have float. Does me no good to charge the batteries and then just let them sit to discharge.

I don't think any of the Lead Acid battery profiles have float as the batteries are designed for "motive" application and not "stand-by" use.

One of the other manufacturers, I think DPI, has changed their meaning of "float" and it no longer means the batteries are kept above charged level.

Well shoot, that kind of sucks, but makes sense.

Isn't the Lester Summit II supposed to restart a charge every so often?

I'll check those out.

Thanks.

Anyone able to get through to Lester Electrical? I called and some rude woman answered the phone. I said I had some questions about a charger and she transferred me to another number. The guy didn't answer, so I left a message and never heard back. That was 6 days ago.
