'03 Club Car DS IQ Stopped running
I did an Alltrax controller, solenoid and motor upgrade on my 2003 Club Car DS IQ about a year ago using parts supplied by Scotty B. The cart has been running great since then until yesterday. Yesterday the cart would not move. When the throttle is depressed the cart will jerk a little but that's all. I'm suspecting either a MCOR failure or a bad solenoid. I get NO clicking noted on the solenoid when it is supposed to be activated. I tested voltages on both large posts of the solenoid and get 51.1v on the + lead but I'm also getting essentially the same voltage on the other post with the key off and the RUN/TOW switch in the RUN position. Again....key is OFF and the throttle is NOT depressed. As per Scotty B's instructions I removed the pre-charge resister from one post of the solenoid before doing my voltage readings.
The Alltrex controller status light gives me 3 green blinks and then solid green. To me that says I've got no problems with the controller itself. Any thoughts on what might be happening? Or other tests I should be doing to determine the root cause of my problem? |

There should not be a Pre-Charge resistor on the Large Posts of an IQ cart if you have an XCT controller. Are you sure that was not the Regen Diode?
Have you connected the Laptop to it yet and utilized the Tool Kit? This is essential to see the Monitor Screen and show error flags when attempting to move. |

NoleFan4Ever: You are correct. That is indeed a Regen Diode. After cleaning my battery posts, disconnecting/reconnecting all the wires to the large posts of the solenoid, and after re-seating the large connection plug to the Alltrax controller, the golf cart started working again. I did use the Alltrax Toolkit monitor as suggested and found no errors at this point. Perhaps I had a loose or corroded connection somewhere. At any rate, I am happy to say things are back to normal. Thanks for your help.
