Default Series cart slowed down, new batteries installed and still slow

I have a 1996 EZGO txt series 36v cart which I upgraded in 2011 (thanks to Scotty B) with a Logisystems 480 Amps-36/48 Volt controller, new solenoid, Plum Quick Bandit motor, 00 gauge wires, new F&R switch, 5" lift, new tires and wheels, rear flip seat and in dash volt meter. I was very happy with the cart when it was done. It would do 17 mph on flat pavement. Last year at the end of season it slowed down to only about 11 mph so I finally replaced the batteries thinking they were the issue. Put in 6 new Trojan 6v T105s volt meter is at 38.2 and it still only goes 11mph. I have cleaned all the contacts and made sure everything snug? Any suggestions on what it might be?

I would start with the obvious by making sure the brakes aren't dragging and check what the battery voltage drops to when you accelerate. Then check the ITS output to make sure your getting 100% throttle signal. If that checks out then check the controller output. Hopefully one of the gurus will chime in with more info.

I’m surprised that you were only getting 17 before. 480 amp controller, 48v, with a bandit motor, and 23” tires? That just doesn’t sound right.

The 17 mph is with a 36 v cart.

He's only running 36v, would have been the perfect opportunity to upgrade to 48v though!

Gotcha, I misread it. Gotta say that still seems a little slow. My cart did 20-22 at 36v with 19” tires. Factory freedom model with the upgraded controller and motor, but I would have thought his setup would be faster than 17.

When I had plum quick upgrade the motor I asked for it to be rewound for torque not speed. I was more concerned with how much weight I would be putting on the cart at the time. Then when I replaced the batteries I messed up and put in 36 again instead of upping to 48. My bad I forgot that the controller would handle 48v I am thinking of adding one more 6v and making it a 42v. How do I test the micro switches I am starting to think that is the problem for all the threads I am reading?

On a series cart, a microswitch either works or it doesn't. If solenoid clicks and it goes, they are good. They have absolutely nothing to do with speed. Did you test the throttle circuit?

No I haven't tested throttle circuit yet. Can someone explain how to do that for me?

Click on the link I posted. Your controller may use a different voltage. I haven't looked at the link lately.
