Admiral B2 and Alltrax400
I know I'm beating a dead horse probably.
Recently upgraded my 2004 PDS to 48v, XCT400 controller, and admiral B2 motor. I am running 22" tires. My question is, what speeds are people getting out of theirs? I was hoping for 25-28 MPH, but I am getting 21-22 mph. There is better torque but I feel I went backwards. In saying that, I think my setting are wrong. I did install the Alltrax map today for the motor and that is when I only got 22MPH. Before the map I could do 25MPH. With the Alltrax controller and 36V I could get 25MPH. Add the 48V and my speeds got up to 30MPH on the original DE2-4007 motor. Added the motor and I am at 22MPH with the Alltrax field map. Any ideas to get the speed back to at least 25MPH or is this not possible? |

Re: Admiral B2 and Alltrax400
Admiral is an 8 pole motor.

Re: Admiral B2 and Alltrax400
I had to double check but I wonder why Alltrax told me to put it on 4 pole? Makes me wonder if it is a bad map.

I changed to 8 pole and no change in speed. Torque is there.

Brain fart. My bad, 4 pole is correct.
Changing 4 to 8 would have no effect though. Try telling it to not limit speed. Then collect a monitor file so we can see the draws and voltage at full speed. |

Re: Admiral B2 and Alltrax400
Hopefully this helps ScottyB. I have been driving it some playing with it so it is about 75% charge.

I haven't seen a monitor file look like this one - may JB can decode it for us or ?
Maybe you can do it again and not save with windows explorer? Save as Excel file Also do you have a FN device installed? Take the time to charge the pack up for the most comprehensive evaluation. |

Re: Admiral B2 and Alltrax400
The columns and headers don't line-up in the txt file, making it next to impossible to read.
I managed to open it with Quattro Pro and took a look. Battery voltage is in mid to low 40's while at speed, so low battery voltage is one of the factors keeping the speed down. In fact, the low battery error flag was tripped for a moment when the battery voltage dropped to 37.8 for one line entry. The highest battery voltage seen before any Regen braking occurred was 48.5V which is only about 55% SoC. (But there were 27A being drawn) Highest battery voltage seen even with Regen is 49.1V, which is about 65% SoC. Max RPM was 4,458 with 45.5V applied to armature and 4.7A of field current. Both higher pack voltage and lower Filed Amps will up the max RPM. If 22MPH was the max speed reached during the run, your tires are slightly over 20" tall. --------------- Need to see a log with a fully charged battery. Also, start recording log with key off, F/R in neutral and pedal not pressed. |

FN Device???
It would not allow me to upload an excel file yesterday. I'll do a run later with the batteries charged and try to upload it or send it by email. |

Re: Admiral B2 and Alltrax400
It had right at 6 miles on the cart when I did this test. Even with brand new Trojans and a full charge, it was only getting 22mph at best earlier in the day. They are 22" tires.
I will make sure to do those steps when I get home JohnnieB and get a good log of it running. Is there another file to save it to? It wouldn't allow an Excel spreadsheet to upload. |
