Unhappy Motor change

I have a 1988 club car which has become my w/end project. My last part was to upgrade the engine, so I replaced my 36v stock motor with a 36v high speed emotor. I upgraded the solenoids to 48v, all major wiring (like battery cables) to 2g and all regular wires to 16g, I also installed a new HD F&R switch. I took pictures of everything and went by the diagrams to re-install everything and/or I labeled all cables, and this was the end result;
-- HD H&R Switch sparkling and burning up when engaged
-- Wheels will go without pressing down on the accelerator therefore, I need to
put the cart in neutral to get the wheel from rotating.
As You can see I am very bad mechanic and have no clue on how to work
with electricity.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Unhook the battery pack. Look in the "Stickies" and find the exact wiring diagram for your cart. Follow the wires and cables closely. I think you may have wired the large cables wrong.

I went through all those steps and nothing even used the official club car manual wiring diagrams, now I'm wondering if the speed switch assembly might be the problem which is the only part I have not changed. While not wishing this to anyone on this forum perhaps there is someone out there who has experienced the same issue and what was the solution.

Anyway, thanks for the advise and taking the time to share.

I don't think a problem in the micro switches will cause the FNR to spark and burn up.
