I think I would turn it around facing the rear as he stated. |

Re: Seatbelts for Precedent front seat only...no rear
Much to my chagrin I discovered something unsettling/unacceptable.
The “hard points” used to secure the outer seatbelts on my front seat are nothing more than holes drilled into the fiberglass body kit with a large 3 inch washer on the other side. I would much prefer something attached to the metal (aluminum) chassis. I’m going to have to redesign/engineer the front seat belts as well. |

My seatbelts are for cosmetic use only to please the park rangers. I sure hope they never keep me locked in when I need to get out! |

I need em for my small kid...don’t need him falling out. Also considering the street legal route

Good points, thanks guys.
So from what I gather, manufacturers attach the seat belts to the fiberglass body and not necessarily connected to a hard point on the frame. |

If I were you and needed seatbelts to satisfy local, however misguided, ordinances, I would use the smallest [or no] washers under the body as a "breakaway" point in case of a serious crash.

Re: Seatbelts for Precedent front seat only...no rear
I don’t want to hijack this thread. . . sorry if I am guilty of that.
The Cart is already registered with the CA DMV. There are no problems with the local gendarmes. I just want to ensure all the passengers are safely secured. Being a car guy, I’m just used to using hard points when installing seat belts. Looking at photos of similar carts, it looks like they simply attached the seatbelts to the fiberglass body. That’s what initially drew me to this thread, installing new seatbelts in the rear seats. |
