If you're looking for something around 105 AH, this one is an excellent choice:
https://ecobattery.com/collections/a...ucts/48v-105ah Or the same battery in a bundle including the charger, meter, etc. https://ecobattery.com/products/48v-...d-tempo-bundle |

I also like the package prices offered by ECO. The 105ah pack is only 12-1/4" x 13" which means it will fit in the space of two 8 volt batteries. This will leave a lot of room in my older DS cart to move the controller and solenoid under the seat for better access. |

During my research, I stumbled upon Will Prowse videos on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/WillProwse/videos
He has some videos where he tests the batteries and does the tear downs and shows build quality... Maybe he has some videos for the batteries you are considering? |

Re: Lithium for 1998 Club Car DS
Wellllllllllllllllll,
MY apple cart has just been upset. In my conversation with a manufacturer of lithium batteries, I was informed that there is a significant chance that the older components in my 22 year old Club Car MAY not be capable of handling the amperage that a lithium battery will deliver, resulting in fried controller and/or motor......... The possibility of this happening increases depending on the usage of the cart. I am not a golfer...I use my cart as a truck around the property.....sometimes I have a trailer w/300# of dirt being towed, sometimes uphill. That will increase the loads and chance of failure. That does NOT interest me in the slightest........ Has anybody had that experience or heard of that happening? |

I don't think it will be a problem. I have a Roypow 105ah for about a year and have put it thru the wringer with no problems. What batteries are you using now (FLA AH?).

Re: Lithium for 1998 Club Car DS
I do not have the "Big Battery 48V HSKY" you mentioned.
But my 2003 CC DS, has "Big Battery 48V BDGR - 2x48v-80ah" Nothing fried yet - hopefully nothing will - fingers crossed. Their (bigbattery) datasheet for BDGR show Max peak discharge 126A (over 6 seconds). Maybe I am looking at it wrong? Ask them for datasheet on HSKY. I've reached out to them for all kinds of naive questions and they've been quick to reply. I did not go with HSKY because it was out of my budget; plus I could not justify spending that much to my other half on 18-year old cart which we paid less than the cost of HSKY battery. Not a golfer either - simply using the cart to drive around town. |

Re: Lithium for 1998 Club Car DS
The caution I was given came from ECO. I have to lend some credibility to the caveat as heeding it would cost them a potential sale...........they were speaking from reported dealer experiences.
I would hate to spend $1800 to $2K for the battery only to have to spend more to replace other stuff. some of these lithium batteries have a 300A fuse. That says something. So, looks like I'm going to persist in my battery rejuvenation efforts to squeeze a bit more life outa the Duracels. |
