Default 1989 DS Oil is still Black after change

Hi all, I am new here and have a question with my cart. I have just recently changed the oil in my 1989 DS. The drain plug was 7/8" and drained just fine. I could not find any type of oil filter on this cart anywhere, so I assume that they did not have an oil filter in 1989. Anyway, I filled it to spec and took it out for a ride, let it cool and checked to make sure it read ok on the stick. The oil is just as black as it was before I changed it! Is this normal on a 1989 Club Car? Is there a hidden oil filter somewhere? Thanks in advance for any help.

1989 was still the flathead engine. I thought they had a drain in the front and in the rear of the engine base? If you drained it in the front and the rear was lower? There could have been some oil left in the engine when you refilled. I like to put a floor jack under a cart for the draining and tip the cart to the plug side. I find this helps alot....... But don't worry you will get the oil looking clean on the spring oil change

Thanks for the quick response! So there is no oil filter on this engine? I did jack up the rear to allow the oil to drain to the front. I had no idea there was a drain plug in the back as well. Thanks for your help!

I have an 88 and it did the same thing but it had not been changed in over a year or more i guess. It cleared up on the 3rd change, just some sludge hanging out in the block. Now thats thinking with your dipstick.

Whenever I get a used lawnmower/ car/ cart I kill the ignition/pull the plug and add gas to the crankcase....motor over a few times and drain....

Change the oil...I wonder if anyone else does this?
