Default How to Bench Test a controller

I have my stock controller and was wondering how to bench test it. I may be able to sell it for a few dollars and use that money toward my rebuild. Also can I bech test a 36v solenoid? These are both from a 1995 Medalist Series cart.

Thanks,

David J.

Click on the link download the manual of your controller and it tells you how to bench test it

1-attach proper voltage ( 6-12-36-48 ) to the 2 small posts of solenoid and check and YOU SHOULD HEAR a click means that the voltage is pulling the contacts together.
2- to confirm that the HD contacts are working correctly, place a continuity meter across the 2 large posts while voltage is across small contacts. This is NOT A FOOL PROOF test because even if the contacts dont work under full draw to motor it will show some continuity.
Many times I have found that solenoids will pull in ( CLICK ) but pass no power through to motor because the contacts are burned away by too much arcing but will show continuity because enough metal is left to show something less.
A good site to go to for all kinds of control info is ALLTRAX. COM
It shows all about solenoid contact problems.
There are more and more solenoid problems now that we are getting the CHINESE KNOCK OFF PARTS that are very sub standard. Beware of solenoids or for that matter any parts with no name, part numbers, place of manufacturing showing on a plate on part. It used to be a LAW that anything manufactured out side the USA had to show where it was made, but the GREED factor has stepped in and the law seems to be ignored??
I hope this has answered your question in a manner that you understand?

I believe the number is P181275. I have not tested it yet but I may be able to hook it up on my friends golf cart to check it.
