Default 2008 Drive will fit 6 - 8 volt batteries fit?

I just purchased a 2008 Yamaha Drive without batteries or speed controller.
YDRE 2008
I was hoping someone can tell me if 6 - 8 volt batteries will fit.
I also want to lift the cart and go with larger tires.
How is the stock motor? should I send it in for more power?
I was going to look at a 500-700 amp controller as I have a lot of hills.
Any help would be great!

the 6-8v batteries will fit. Do a search and you will find quite a few threads on how to do it

No problem, you just have to create a hold down and place two batteries in the center on that high spot.

Thanks CRE73 I will look into building something. How does your cart handle hills? I am looking at doing what you did with suspension and tires.

But, stock motors were not built for 500-700 amps... I limit stock motors to 400a, i learned this the hard way.

No problems with the hills around central Illinois. Especially now that I have upgraded the controller. Always me the wife and our two girls. you will want to upgrade the motor also if you upgrade the controller to that high of amps like CGtech mentioned.

Ok I am going to upgrade motor and all wiring. Now as far as controllers go anyone have experience with both the alltrax and Curtis? Everyone is saying good things about the Alltrax but I cant find a comparison between the two. I have worked on the Curtis sep-ex for years but have not ever seen a Alltrax.

I went with the Curtis 500 AMP and a plumb quick Bandit motor. 4 new 12 volt batteries.
I am very impressed how it climbs hills and the gain in acceleration and speed.
