Default new member, troubles with my 97 G16E

hi all, my grandfather gave me his old Yamaha g16e, 36v. was all stock, no issues. me and my daughter run it around the back yard quite a bit and I went ahead and installed 6" rhox lift and 8" wheels,22" tires.
after the lift was on I noticed that if im running it thru the woods or up hills it will just die, stop moving. key on it still clicks when u push pedal, just wont move. if u let it sit a minute it will come back to life. today it did it and when I got back home I check voltage across batts because I assumed they were shot and causing this to happen but I had 37.34v? it already has a new 36v solenoid, and new forward/reverse selector. any ideas? thanks, Jason

g16 F&r & controller are the most common problems i see with G16e. f&r already replaced. check throttle input to controller (although they dont usually fail sporadicly like this). G16 should be a 0-1k ohm throttle. since you just increased the load on the controller 2-fold (larger tires & offroad use), you should be expecting the stock controller to go. i say start saving them pennies for a upgrade controller, 400a minimum, 500a even better. stock cables & stock solenoid are "medium duty" at best, so plan for those too.

thanks for the reply, if the throttle pedal switch was acting up would the relay still click after it dies when pedal is pushed? I have clean all connections at batts, controller, solenoid, and f&r switch. any suggestions on a controller?

alltrax, 400a or larger. also, try wiggling the shifter handle to see if contacts are problem. the factory g16 is very weak, and a nemisis of mine. i wrote a thread about a pretty easy mod to install a HD ezgo f&r because of this problem. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...zgo-parts.html
