Ok gang to all of you engine gods here is my problem. That engine starts perfectly normal, runs great for anywhere from 3 -20 minutes the will just billow out the white smoke for a minute the engine runs real rough, I know the oil/plug fouling, but then it will runs great again. What should I be looking for.

97 club car. 6inch lift kit.
I dont know on the oil. I know on the dip stick it is at the half way point. I have not done a compression check. But I can. I just did a cpl of things, checked the air filter, plug, Wife had the guy at the local golf course change the oil and filter. I am only home a cpl days a month. It does have a cpl of speed up grades listed on the site done to it. But none of the ones like clutch plates or upgraded springs. |

Speed upgrades???
Like a zip tie or govenor adjustment, with the rev limiter disconnected? And if yes... does it "puff" smoke only at full throttle? and if yes... your valves are floating from over reving! That's not good for the engine, and eventually your engine will go "BANG"! Readjust your zip tie or govenor to lower RPM's and it won't happen anymore! (Past experience... but, not the "BANG" part!) |

It does a bit more then puff, it did it also some before the zip tie trick. But I will loosen the zip tie some.

I know... mine was more like a "cloud"... and sputtered 'till I let off of the gas! (which was right away!)
Use a car tach, and try to get it @ 42-4300 RPM's in maintenance/service mode! (valves start to float @ 44-4500 rpm's on a FE290... If I'm not mistaken) It'll be a bit slower then your used too, but your engine will last longer! |
