Question Picked up a pair of Club Cars (got a few noob questions)

OK, I just got a pair of stretched club cars...

8 passenger length, but no middle seats, just side slots (what's the point of having an empty spot in the middle?)

Anyhoo, I don't know jack about Club Cars or gas carts in general (my daily cart is a lifted Yamaha Electric), so I have a few questions:

1) Where is the VIN located and how do I decode it to find out the model/year?

2) I bought these at a local auction and wasn't able to get keys

They both have 2-key systems (one round keyswitch and one ignition style key switch)

I know I'll have to yank the main cover, but what wires (color code) do I need to jump in order to get them started?

3) I've been told that these carts will only run with the gas pedal depressed....

How do I go about bypassing this system if I want them to start, idle and run like a normal car?

The info should be on an indentifiction plate or sticker that is loacted in the lower front passenger foot well just below the glove box on the frame.

First 2 numbers will be the year.. ie 98 will be 1998

Show us pics, it might be something done aftermarket. We want pics! not just of the wiring but the carts themselves as well.
The original swtich would be located in the center of the dash.

First why would you want to do that..

Second a kit does exists, but why?
the kits include a special spring to pervent the clutch from closing instantly when the engine starts, and pedal microswitch bypass stuff.

Red face Re: Picked up a pair of Club Cars (got a few noob questions)

1) I'll post pix as soon as I get back to the shop in the morning

2) I'm not familiar with the way gas carts work, but I can only assume the starter motor will crank the engine everytime I hit the gas? (this is how it was explained to me....sorta)

I guess it just seems odd to me, but I'll see how it works out once I get them started....

Yea pretty much like that. you hit the pedal, the starter gen starts the motor, you give it throttle, the motor begins to actualy run, and the starter begins to recharge the battery. Once you let your foot off, the starter stops, and ya stop.

You know strech carts are very hard to come by. you got yourself a lucky find!

Hmm, won't the starter motor and battery get overworked in stop and go traffic? (or driving from hole to hole on a mini golf course lol)

I don't see many limo carts around here, but I've never seen any like these with the nothing in the middle...

It just doesn't make sense to have sumthin this long and not have as many seats for passengers as possible...

One actually has a stripper pole in the middle holding the center of the top up

OK, sorry I took so long with the pix....

Been busy hauling crap all day and didn't get to the shop until an hour ago

Anyhoo, here they are:

Stripper Pole lol

LOTS of legroom back there and those side panels just drop into slots and can be removed if needed...

According to the serial number, they both start with MG94, so i guess they're 94's (I was hoping they'd be newer)

something else you can try a small flat screwdriver in the middle of the main key slot to turn it might work i use my 76 chevy door key at just the right angle and i have a key they are only a dollar at the local club car dealer if you want the right one.
