no power when you go to start
well im helping bro and hes got and older club car carryall and we need to get it running now but the thing is that even with the battery charger on it still has no power to turn it over im going to replace some wires and terminals and see if that helps but i just wanted some more input from people that know alittle more about it because this is my first golf cart that ive worked on so if anyones got ideas thanks

Welcome Grell, first be sure you have a good battery then you can concentrate on when the starter won't turn fast enough. If the belt is not rediculously too tight? Then I would guess bad brushes? Does the motor turn over easy by hand? Lets see what others think?

ok i looked at the battery and it was dated last year and dont know if the belts are to tight but ill look and it spins ok but this is my first cart so it could be fine or be hard but to me it spins easy for a motor how would you tell if the brushes were bad

should be 4 rubber plug's on the gen. pull them out and look at the brushes if they are all the way down in the holder's they are worn out.

ok well i got it running but its not something id trust to go far away from a battery charger but it still runs fine its just when it goes to start it spins and it sounds like its going to drain the battery but then it fires

Check ALL of your battery cables positive and neg, both ends for corrosion. Corroded cables will show 12V with a meter but will choke the snot out of the amps needed and cause a slow dragging starter.
How did the brushes look? Can you post pics of the area? cables? |
