The controller only takes what it can use, no matter the Ah rating of the battery pack. So, itll be fine.

I did this conversion to my 2010 G29 a little over a month ago. Put in brand new US Batteries and am slowly working up the usage and mileage as the batteries are broken in. Up to about 18 miles so far, with resting voltage after 30 min about 49.8V. Used this time to also upgrade to brand new 4 gauge power cables from Scotty. OEM motor and comtroller. But bought the DPI charger since it has seems to be more "intelligent" than the old oem charger.

The thread below was very helpful and I contributed my info and a photo of the conversion. Hope this helps. Thanks again to the gurus for providing the tips that helped me.

Maybe these threads could be consolidated and made a Sticky since the subject of converting from the 12v batteries seems to come up rather often.

Easy for the guy with 9 posts to say...

That would be great. I want to do it when my batteries need to be replaced.

Here is how I converted my 2007 Yamaha YDRE from 4 12 volt batteries to 6 8 bolt batteries.
