Mostly yes. Unless his cables are already in trouble, you will likely not notice any difference. The motor controller is only capable of delivering its full rated power (300a) for a few seconds at best, on hard acceleration from a stop. The controller is likely only delivering around 120-150amps going up hill.

Threads should never go unsolved and believe it or not - this one is finally solved. My friend limped thru the golf season without pulling it apart, then put the G19E in storage for winter. He finally pulled the motor last week. YEP! Armature was roasted/toasted because of the load created by the long legged gear set. Luckily, the motor repair place I told him about, had an identical (gently used) motor that they sold him for $300 CDN. That's about as good as he could ever have hoped for (AKA his old motor smelled like money). He's back on the road now...long legs and all. By the time this one burns up, I'm sure he will have bought a newer cart. Thanks to all who helped on this.
