I'd be willing to bet that the secondary is frozen. It's pretty common on a G1. The newer models have a grease fitting.

Any trick to removing the castle nut holding it on? The entire clutch is moving when I try to take it off. Any merit in just replacing the whole thing, spring and all once I get it off? Thinking of plowmans performance kit with the muffler.

Impact wrench works great.

Before I throw money on a new clutch, can a frozen one be fixed? Shouldn't I be able to take it apart, clean and grease it and put it back together? Assuming the spring is still good.

Ok, I finally decided to put some time into it and that stubborn castle nut came off soooo easily once I jacked it up, took the tire off and used my impact. I couldn't believe that **** thing came off so easily once I used the impact. Thanks for the advice guys. Now i'm just waiting for my puller to come in and I'll get it all taken apart. It almost seems like it's been messed up for a while because there is no wear on the inside of the sheaves at the top until about 3 inches down. I think the spring is shot though. Anyone have measurement of a good spring?

The spring is probably broken or the sheave is frozen. It is unlikely that the spring is so worn that it won't push the sheaves together. A worn spring will work OK, but it will lack some performance.

Dirt gets on the shaft which at one time had grease on it. Then the sheave will not move as free as it should and will eventually stop moving altogether. Any pics?

Just watched your video. You need to take the clutch apart. Clean it, and grease it.
