Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
I ran it in neutral. The secondary clutch doesn't seem to be opening enough for the belt to climb higher on the primary clutch. I'll upload pictures later today.

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
Sometimes those "white" torque spring are just too stiff. They have caused sheave breakage on more than one occasion...

Video is my stock clutches. With a heavier spring in the secondary it should take more rpm to close the clutch, but it should still do what those are doing. |

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
Perhaps the spring is too stiff. This picture was taken with full throttle. Should I go the hd stock yamaha spring or a plowman spring that isnt as stiff?

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
Plowmans won't sell just a spring. Their clutch kits use a machined sheave and a spring suited to how you use your cart. I'm happy with the performance of their parts.
The u-max spring is manufactured to work with stock Yamaha clutch parts, and also works well. 90508-45849-00 OEM part # |

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
I have a cpp sheave which I got in their performance package. It comes machined. Does the umax spring work with the machined sheave?

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
Yes, I have a umax and machined sheave, I also run a HD kevlar belt from CPP. All three work really well though the belt can drag some on my 94c clutch. I think it will wear in, and since I have pedal start its not a big deal. It just shifts running with the stock belt I ran but even that took some wear to stop dragging. And it does not drag a lot just enough to not want to shift. But it has a lot more low gear this way, rpm are up in 1-2 seconds on a holeshot even with the stock clutch.

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
Forgot about the severe duty belt. Also, the primary needs to be operating properly for everything else to work right...(not saying that yours isn't)

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
Before you go spending more $, how about a up-close pic of the spring seat & sliding sheave (not spinning), if you can get at it. A pic of the input shaft going through the spring seat (on the "spring side").
