G1: issues after rebuild and gov delete
Replaced the crank bearings and seals. Replaced piston rings and wrist pin bearing. Honed the cylinder. Got it back together and runs good except..........I removed the governor, including the butterfly in the exhaust outlet. Now once in a while it will pop back and blow the pulse hose for the fuel pump off at the block. Should the butterfly be left on????

Re: G1: issues after rebuild and gov delete
You have to seal those holes shut can't have exhaust leaks by motor, make sure you have no intake leaks also, try richening the idle mix more. That valve cuts noise more than anything else, some came without them and it is not needed.
