Yamaha G1 Gas Cart
Has anyone converted a G1 Cart over to a 4 stroke engine. If so what is the best engine to go with?

Re: Yamaha G1 Gas Cart
Use the search feature. The rear end only has one direction. The motor is what turns forwards or reverse. The rear end will need to be replaced unless there is a 4 cycle motor that goes forwards and reverse, I havent heard of any.

Re: Yamaha G1 Gas Cart
There are many good choices for an engine. I actually started out with an 8hp Briggs and Stratton. It worked well with the factory clutches and I was able to get to about 26-27mph on flat and level. It lost a lot on hills which I didn't like, so I now have a 25hp Kawasaki engine in it and love it.
Although I did run it for a while with the original rear differential and just did without reverse, it got to be a pain watching where I was going in case I had to back up (Which I couldn't without pushing, and I had too a couple times) So I changed the rear in mine to a G2. With some fab work, you can install just about any engine in your G1. |
