Default 2008 Ez-Go RXV w/ 2018 Trojan Batteries and Upgrades or Hold out for a Precedent

Hey Guys, New hear

I am in the market for my first golf cart and really torn over which to pick up.

I was originally in the market from a Precedent based solely on looks and price.

Went to visit a local dealership to see what was around before going to look at a completely stock precedent for a steal of a price.

The owner of the store successfully talked me out of going to see it by saying "You don't want a Precedent...For the area you are living in, you want a AC Motor RXV." He went on to say I have two Precedents in stock and just can't sell them. People want the RXV.

So I left the store thinking if this guy was just trying to sell me on a RXV because thats what he had. He was not pushy in anyway and was very nice guy. So i gave him the benefit of the doubt and believed him.

I then went on to look for used RXV. I searched FB, CL, OfferUp, LetGo, etc.

A co-worker of mine said a neighbor is selling a RXV and showed me some pictures and information.

Its a 2008 EZ-GO RXV, 48v, 2018 Trojan Batteries with battery cables replaced, Bumper Guard, Rear Seat, Jake's Lift with wheels and Tires, fender guards, extended roof. All for what i think is a great deal. From the pictures looks to be in great shape. I plan to go and see it in person. The price is well below what I saw at the local dealership for a cart with all the above upgrades. (which i understand dealerships do need to make a profit). But still lower than other used custom ones i see selling privately.

Now i continue to do research and read forums and I see alot of people pushing Precedents over RXV for various reasons.

"RXV are not easy to fix yourself" (I was planning to maintain a golf cart myself... I like to consider myself handy haha)
"Precedents handle hills better" (Dealer said vice versa)
"RXVs Rust" (The one for sale is garage kept and would continue to be if i brought it)
"RXV are expensive to repair and parts cost more"

I live in a hilly area and will mainly be driving it to the amenities center, neighbors, and the school right next to my development.

I am really relying on you guys to give me genuine feedback on an RXV vs Precedent. Price wise they would be roughly the same.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to read my post and providing any feedback they can.

Thanks and hope to have a cart that I can show you all and have fun with.

I've owned both Precedents and RXV'x. My personal preference is the RXV. While they do have issues periodically (as do all carts), I don't really find them more expensive to repair. Most repairs are difficult if not impossible without a handheld to diagnose. I purchased the Curtis handheld for my 2Five when I got it. Between that and the wealth of information I can find here I'm not afraid to tackle pretty much anything that arises myself and I'm by no means an electronics expert.

Moving on to the RXV you are talking about above, I do see a couple things that might make me look into other options:
1. It's a 2008 cart which means it has the Danaher controller. It is not nearly as user friendly as the later model carts (2012 1/2-up) with the Curtis. Not much you can do with the programming on those other than freedom mode and accel settings.

2. I would avoid a lifted RXV with larger tires especially with the Danaher controller. They just don't seem to do very well with tires much larger than stock. The lost torque alone would affect you driving in the stated hilly areas.

Not trying to talk you out of the RXV, but I don't think I would pick the one you found. Good luck and come back and post pictures when you get your new cart and welcome to the addiction.
