Controller, Solenoid, Cables Install

Hi everyone, thanks for looking at my post. I have a 2006 Precedent with 23" tires and a PQ Bandit motor. I ordered a DCX400 controller, Solenoid, and 2 gauge cables from Scotty B last week. I started tearing into it Sunday and have had quite a few questions. Scott has been great to deal with and responds to emails very quickly. By posting this I am only trying not to bug him any more than I have to, not because there is any lack of customer service.

So I have gotten the controller and solenoid mounted, as seen in my picture attached. Hopefully the diode is installed correctly. As for the F1 and F2 contacts on the controller; does the S1 cable from the old controller go to the F1 on the new controller, and likewise for the S2 on the F2?

As for replacing the battery cables; there is the cable that runs through the cpu which has two other wires spliced into the end of the cable where it connects to the controller. How do I splice those into the new cables? Do I have to cut and crimp new ends on these other wires?

The diode is correct.

Your assumption for F1 and F2 is correct.

Can You take another picture showing what is connected to the main solenoid posts? It looks like You have too many wires there.

If You are still using the OBC, the pack negative cable needs to go through it. You should have a stud kit that came with Your cables.

You will need to crimp new ends on the cables that were attached to the original 6ga cables You are removing.

Still hard to tell...

As a general comment, the high amperage cables always go first, into any stacked studs.

It looks like your pre-charge resistor is first and then the large cables on top, if that is the case, it is wrong.

Solenoid big post:

The pack positive side should only have 1 additional 10ga red wire.

The controller side should have no additional wires, just the single cable to the controller B+.

Where are those small yellow wires going?

Hmmm, I just put whatever was on the old solenoid on the new one. I'll have to look when I get home where those other wires go.

Yes - you always want to put the high current cables on the studs first - including on the batteries! The high current connection to the Stud is the lowest resistance this way and it will generate the least amount of heat. This is important any time there is more than one cable going to the same stud.

So it looks like the two yellow wires on my solenoid were just holding the resistor from the prior setup. The extra red wire goes into the loom holding the main plug for the controller. I can't tell where it goes from there

Make sure You remove those extra yellow wires, and the OLD resistor.
