I'm not going to hot rod it. So when the time comes I will go back with 6volts. It goes fast enough the way it is. Too fast with the freedom plug. I spill my beer going that fast 😂

Re: 9 batteries
I'll second what sportscoupe said. If the existing charger is charging the 5 year old batteries, just hang in there and figure out what you want to do with the cart.

Re: 9 batteries
Here's a better pic of batteries. The guy also had these float chargers (second pic)hooked to 3 of the batteries running across the center. Didn't think that was right. Any thoughts on that. And was nervous about plugging all 3 into a small cord.

Re: 9 batteries
Those are 40Ah 12v batteries and in the 3p3s configuration you have they yield a 120Ah 36v pack. That isn't much at all. In fact it stinks. Combined that they were only 40Ah when new and now they are 5 years old their capacity is reduced. I would be very surprised if they gave you a 5 mile range. If that works for you then it's ok.
If you need more range consider going back to 6v golf cart batteries. The standard is 225Ah which is significantly greater capacity then what you have now. Spend more money and there are 260Ah batteries available for maximum range. |

Thanks sportcoupe. I will change them out as soon as I can. But going to have to run them like this for now. Just stripped it anyways. Starting to redo the body. :)

Re: 9 batteries
OK, don't want to be a poop, but those batteries are not designed/optimized to be traveling overland and dealing with road shocks, etc. And they're not secured in the cart at all. The cableing is dangerous. There is much more work that needs to be done here just to cope with the existing conditions. Fireplug808 deserves to be advised of some basic safety issues here. My .02

Re: 9 batteries
Then it's on him. Just don't want others to see these pix and think it's ok to rig a cart this way just because it runs normal.
