Default 2010 EZGO RXV won't get over crawl speed.

I have a 2010 RXV, lifted with 23" A/T tires, with 1.5 year old Trojans. It's been a great buggie with no issues until now.*
I was easing around the pond at my house shooting snakes. I let off the gas, coasted to a stop, shot the snake .When I pressed the pedal it moved but was at a slow crawl. About 10 minutes later I tried it and worked fine. Let off the gas and back on - Slow crawl again and has been since. I was looking for loose wires & discovered a loose (+) connection (slightly melted the post / but Voltage looks good individually and total). Tightened it and checked the others- no change, disconnected the power, let it sit for a few hours reconnected it- no change. Was told to take the brake off , set it in the bag storage, but leave it connected and be careful, did that- no change. Friend hooked it to his programmer and says, best he can tell it's the Motor or controller. From what I have read neither of those goes out too often and are too pricey to playing with. I was told to check the speed sensor but mine has the old style & not sure how to test it or if you can. Does anyone know how to test the sensor or have any other advise this issue? Thanks for your help

If your friend with the programmer can't tell you anything better than "it's the motor or controller" then he doesn't know what he's doing. I'm willing to bet it's neither the motor or controller. Most common problems I have seen on rxv's are parking brake, pedal switches or encoder bearing.

What error codes did he find?

He is suppose to send the codes to me. This is the 1st he has messed with an rxv. The info on the controller or the motor being bad is what EZGO told him. Everything I've heard and resources is what u have just stated. How can I tst the encoder bearing, pedal switch & parking brake?

On a '10 rxv, a "mechanical brake failure" code will cause a 0 mph condition. Brake switch only engages when pedal is fully pressed (not likely your problem), encoder can be tested by you without a handheld scanner, IF you have a oscilloscope and know how to use it (i have one, and i am not proficient). If i were working on a rxv stuck in "limp home mode", the motor and/or controller being outright failed would be my last suspicion (it is driving & all). Motor temp sensor is a good place to check (it is the 2-wire plug going into the motor with the 3 main cables), check with ohm meter & report findings.

Never heard of an oscilloscope but I may know someone who has. When i get home I'll check the temp sensor & post findings. I recall him saying the motor temp high was one of the codes. Thanks for help.

Ouch, the temp sensor is in the braided windings of the motor, not replaceable without a new motor.

I disconnected the main power and both plugs at the at the motor. I got 612 ohms at the 2 wire connection going to the motor.

Motor temp sensor acceptable range is 400-1300 ohm (1300 ohm = 150c temp!). I have seen intermittent failure, but the controller does not even require key-off-key-on to go back to normal operation. I think temp sensor seems ok now
