Default Speed Sensor or Something Else?

I have a 2003 Club Car DS, 48V with IQ system, GE motor, stock magnet. Upgraded controller to Curtis 350A, and it worked great! Then I went to change out magnet, popped out speed sensor and discovered I had the wrong magnet, put sensor back in to wait for new magnet, and started having strange issue. The cart would take off like a champ, then only go 8mph. However, going downhill it would only regen brake with the pedal down; freewheeled when pedal was let up.

I figured the speed sensor was damaged when I took it out and reinstalled it, so I bought and installed a new one, and the behavior got even more strange.

Cart Takes off and goes like a champ, but then behaves erratically. Going downhill, it will either take off and run with no limit (32mph on my GPS), or more often regen brake when the pedal is down (12-13mph like it should), but freewheel faster if you let the pedal up, where it would originally slow more to 6-7mph.

Even more strange is the uphill behavior: Will surge to 8mph, slow to 4, surge to 8, slow to 4 ... repeat, with enough force to nearly give you whiplash!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Default Re: Speed Sensor or Something Else?

You can check motor/magnet with voltmeter.
From black to green will go from plus volts to zero volts smoothly when rolling cart slowly.

Check connections anywhere where wiring may have been disturbed. At tach and controller. Unplug and re-plug. Cycle main power.

Shameless plug:
Use a MM next time and save the hassle of magnet change.
