The auger drilled holes all the way down to the beach on both sides, just a little wider than the cart. Chainsaws cut between all the holes. This loosened up the ice so we had a nice path and simply pulled......and pulled.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time
Darn warm winter - anyway!?
Next time bring a gas cart - they are 50% lighter.

Shallow part of lake? If this was a deep lake (say 100+ Ft) you could have been killed...or even worse, the cart might have been lost forever!

Oh NO !!! Don't tell anybody they are waterproof We'll have people floating their controls on purpose.

Did the batteries fill with water?

Yes, This was in the shallow part of the lake. Down by my house where I drove on it was almost a foot thick. But, down on the shallow end, guessing it was only 3 inches due to radiational warming from the ground not being fully frozen

The batteries did fill with water, I drained them and put in new distilled water - they are almost 11 years old so its time for new batts anyway...

Well there dead now . you were better off just removing enough so they didnt bubble over at charge, then use what you took out to refill as needed.
