Ezgo rxv 48v cart jerks back and beeps

Hi guys new to the forum I recently purchased a ezgo rxv 2010 it has 4 12v batteries, I bought this cart with this issue. I figured I would ask here before sending it to the dealer for repair. So what is going on is. When I turn the key to either forward or reverse, the cart jerks backwards maybe 4-5ft very hard and a loud beep style alarm stays on steady until the key is turned off, when I push the pedal I hear a click but nothing happens. Just wondering if maybe anyone would be able to lead me in the right direction thanks..

There is also a strong smell or possibly burnt electric or maybe a burnt clutch type smell. I also ready that this cart should have an auto park brake, I can move by hand in run mode and I tow mode, I have also unplugged the brake on the engine and it will still roll, Thanks for any advise in advanced.

It should be an easy fix. It is failing the motor brake test. With the electric brake applied, it tries to turn the motor. If the motor does not turn (and the cart does not move), test passes. If the motor turns (and cart moves), the test fails and the cart goes into motor brake failure shutdown mode. You need to buy a motor brake and replace it. Search for the procedure here because if you overtighten the motor brake mounting bolts when you install it, it will not last long.

You can buy an RXV motor brake on eBay. Do not buy the Heavy Duty one, the 2010 has a Danaher controller and they do not play well with the Heavy Duty motor brake.

I put the brake on and the cart is running great, thanks for the fast reply I will fully charge and see how it does thanks again..

What was the final result. Mine is doing the same thing.
