One more thing, if the contacts are burned or pitted but the cart runs, the solenoid will get very hot due to the resistance through the contacts. It can be hot enough to burn you so check it with an infrared temp gun if you have one.

Or touch it very quickly!

Often when it cools down, it will run again but intermittently

If a solenoid stud is rotated a bit, it might create a hot spot rather than a failure.

Old thread! BUT, I am finally getting to fixing this. Where can I get a heavy duty 48 V solenoid you guys would recommend? And where can I get the diode’s that came with it when I upgraded cables and controller from Scotty B?

Ok, so I’m getting worn out!!! After replacing the throttle and the solenoid it’s still shutting down at random! Can someone provide me a wiring diagram for my club car conversion to solid state that would have come with my kit from @scotty B?

What the heck else should I be looking for??? It will run, then shut off and won’t move. Still showing 48v on digital meter, still clicks at solenoid when key turned on and off. Only micro switch is on the Pb-6 and I can hear it click when engaging the pedal. I’m getting worn out with this!!!! My step dad thought it was the f/r switch, but I cleaned it with terminal cleaner can and nothing looks obviously loose on it! Where should I start with my volt meter?!?!?! Can someone let me know what should be live and have 48v at:
Key start - like solenoid live?
Controller - green light on when engaging the pedal. It goes off after 1/8 throttle and comes back on like 2/8 throttle. Why???
Where should 48v be on controller?
F/r switch should have 48v at pedal engage?
Motor should be live after throttle engaged, assuming f/r is hot at that point?
I even have an after market d&d high torque motor.

Could something in key switch be wrong by chance? By solenoid clicking, seems it’s working?

I had a similar issue with one of my carts. It turned out to be the tow run switch had a bad contact and would rattle just enough that it would randomly not make contact.

Just a thought and a quick check.
