Default Do I Need Pre Charge Resistor

Pulled the electronics from a 96 crashed DS series cart. It was running, but ran kinda sideways.
It has the stock silver Curtis controller. The solenoid appears to have been replaced. It a square Albright with a diode soldered across small terminals. There is no resistor across the large terminals.
Do I need a resistor?

Yes. But not having one won't stop it from running. Put one on asap.

This cart was run hard quite awhile before it was crashed. it looked like it had been in a demolition derby. That would be fun to watch, as long as it wasn't my buggie.
This one should handle it:

I don't know which one that is. Just get the correct one from one of our sponsors. It doesn't really "handle" anything. It keeps juice to your controller.

OK. Just looked at your old threads about this.

As I said, get the proper one for your application. If you want a more detailed explanation for this, Sergio and Scotty who tried to help you before might know the science etc. if that is what you want to know. Your question was whether you needed a resistor.

It is my understanding the resistor supplies current to the controller so it does not need to be re-energized each time one presses the go pedal.

The 10w 470Ω resistor is correct for 48v controls.
