Default V-Glide clean and adjust questions

2000 DS Club Car:

Going through all my wires, cleaning and finding living close to the sea doesn't help. Once I got into the V-Glide I noticed the "paper film" that apparently used to cover the contact "buttons" has come off. In fact the wire that runs to the go-pedal wiper was worn through. So, can this V-Glide be just cleaned and adjusted or is it time to go shopping? (I can tape up the wire, but can those buttons work properly w/o that paper material? Or did they come from elsewhere?)

Thanks

I'm just going to replace it. If I'm going through all the work of pulling it apart, may as well just replace. It's got three wires. Is this going to be a difficult part to replace?

Thanks

Well, I'm going to pull it out anyway, so will try a restore. Any tips?

Pull it apart, take a dremel tool with a sandpaper attachment, use it to clean all the brass conctacts, and also the wiper arm contact. Test continuity after cleaning using digital volt meter. You should get either 0k-5k. Or 5k-0k, open to close, depending which glide you have.
